Staircasing & Simultaneous Staircasing Policy – Consultation is now closed

We recently invited residents to help shape our new Staircasing & Simultaneous Staircasing Policy, and we’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share their feedback. The consultation has now closed, you can find the final Staircasing & Simultaneous Staircasing Policy here.

Click here to read the “You Said, We Did” update and see how your feedback helped shape the final policy.

Summary of Outcomes

Following resident feedback, one direct policy change has been made to clarify that simultaneous staircasing and sale is a single combined transaction completed at the same time.

Additional feedback highlighted the need for clearer information on processes, timescales, costs, and support for more vulnerable residents. While these areas sit outside the policy or vary by circumstance, the insights have been shared to improve resident guides, online information, and wider service delivery.

Although the policy itself could not be simplified due to its legislative requirements, this feedback has informed the development of clearer, more accessible supporting materials.

Overall, feedback will continue to shape improvements to guidance, processes, and future communications.

We’re committed to giving residents meaningful opportunities to:

  • Share their experiences
  • Highlight priorities
  • Influence decisions that affect their homes

This approach supports transparency, inclusivity, and shared ownership.
