We wanted one person to work with their team to provide more responsive, localised services. We asked residents to help name this role, and they told us ‘Local Link’. We introduced the Local Link service to residents in the spring 2025 edition of Shine.
Earlier this year, we asked for your help again – this time to tell us what terminology we should use to describe the areas that Local Links work in. We wanted the language to be clear, local and meaningful.
The consultation has now closed, and thank you to everyone who took part. Overall, ‘communities’ was the most popular choice, making it the highest‑rated term residents felt best described their local area. Your feedback will help shape how we refer to local areas across Southern Housing going forward.
